Palmoplantar Pustular Psoriasis is also referred to as palmoplantar pustulosis. This is limited to just pustular eruption on the soles and palms, however, in some cases it may be associated with scaly patches on elsewhere in the body. It is rare than psoriasis and usually affects adults aging between 60-75 years.
The early symptoms of Palmoplantar Pustular Psoriasis are clusters of deep-seated pus filled vesicles. When eruption begins, it causes a burning and stinging sensation, which later on becomes very painful. The color of vesicles changes to reddish from yellowish and becomes itchier over time. The skin’s superficial layer peels off and the raw pink skin is revealed.
The eruptions of palmoplantar pustular psoriasis involve both feet and hand usually, sometimes may be limited only to feet or hands. The pustules are most common in heel, palms, insteps, flexor part of toes and fingers and soles. In some sever cases, the whole soles and palms can be involved.
The skin wound of disease persists for a long time and it is very resistant to treatment. Sometimes it happens that the skin lesions disappear, but they reappear again. Most patients who suffer with generalized pustular psoriasis have diffused palmar and plantar psoriasis.
